When it comes to wine, we are prone to indulge and pursue our passions very ambitiously. That’s why we vinify in those years allowing it, our rare Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) and Beerenauslese (BA).
It would be a shame to miss the opportunity. Although those sweets are very typical for the region, we are normally not associated with it. Once we decided to pursue sweet wines, we became dedicated to it, as is the case with everything we do.
The Trockenbeerenauslese (literally meaning dry-berry-picking) TBA 2005 is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Blanc, 10% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Riesling, produced in the brilliant sweet wine vintage of 2005. Up until September it was chilly and humid. But in the crucial harvest period of October, it turned sunny and warm, which evidently gives it its fine fruit, stunning concentration and balance at 11.0% alcohol, 8.9 g/l acidity, and 188.7 g/l residual sugar.
It was bottled in December 2008 and shows dark yellow, golden color and fascinating notes of exotic fruit and berries. On the palate is is extremely fine, it possesses a clear-cut structure, perfect balance of acidity and sweetness, and a long finish. At 12 Celsius, the TBA 2005 is the ideal pairing with cheese and dessert. Ideal cellaring will keep this wine alive for more than 30 years.
